I just want to say how wonderful Akumal is and how much fun I had staying at Vista Del Mar Hotels and Condominimums.

When I was there in June of last year the employees encouraged us to turn the lights facing the beach off so that the turtles that were coming onto the beach to lay their eggs were not frightened off. We did and what we experienced was really one of the most incredible moments of my life. We were walking along the beach about midnight when one of the employees, who had an infra red light (apparently the turtles cannot see this and keeps them totally at ease) told us quietly to get down low and stay put. We waited and only after the turtle was starting to lay eggs we were instructed to slowly creep up to her, as she laid her eggs we quietly watched and were instructed to quietly back up out of sight when she was close to leaving. Thanks to Jamie Cost and all the employees of Vista Del Mar for a truly once in a lifetime experience!

It is truly a little slice of heaven, and it keeps getting better. The last time I went to Akumal I had to make an incredibly long walk to go SCUBA diving and NOW all I have to do is walk out on the beach to the new VERY well equiped Akumal Dive Adventures! I was Especially impressed with the knowlege of the instructors about the surrounding area and the fact that they were extreemly careful not to damage the reef when entering and leaving the bay.

The La Buena Vida resturant is really quite incredible. The food is top knotch and the decor is a combination of whimsical and cool. I feel that the people that run these establishments really care and I'll never go anywhere else. See you this June! Steve Pounders
