Met you at Lol-Ha on arrival to the area. We had out traditional Dos Equis here as on our first trip this was the only place open. Our first trip was just days after Hurricane Roxanne blasted through the area in October 1995 and put everyone out of business. We now start all Riviera Maya vacation celebrating that wonderful vacation.

Time to head for Casa Cenote, bye bye everyone see you at the Fiesta. Jump into the Chevy and through the Arches and past the Super Chomak Store. Make a left at the Highway and head south on this very wide and smooth road. This is so different.
We have made it to Casa Cenote with out incident by now. Need to do just a tad bit of commentary about our experience upon arriving at Casa Cenote for our 8 nights stay with Peggy and Gary. When we were in the area last November they were in the process of building 8 Casitas. We love Casa Cenote so much that we decided right there that we would do our next trip at Casa Cenote Casitas. We talked for quite sometime about when would be a good time for this trip to the all new Casa Cenote Casitas. Finally we decided on June this year. So now we checked schedules and found that June 15-23 would work for us. I emailed Marcia at zunimaya@aol.com    as she is the booking agent and owner of the company that does CasaCenote.com website. She confirmed the dates were open and asked if I would like to book them. Yes by all means book the dates for me. Ok Bill your booked for June15 out 23 at $85 US per nite including breakfast an dinner for two. Kewl, we are not much on meals included but we like the food at Casa Cenote and decide that we will give it a try. For Breakfast you can have anything and everything you want. Eggs any style, Bacon, Hot Cakes, Toast, Tortillas, Plato de Fruta, all kinds of juice. You name it and you can have it. You may have to wait until the next day for special items. Dinner is anything on the menu including Langosta (Lobster). The menu has much to choose from but when on the coast it is mostly seafood for us.

The above meal is our first nights dinner.

Now for a look at what met us as we arrived at Casa Cenote.

We pulled up to a Coco Tree and parked the Chevy that we had rented in Cancun.
We made our way around to the Restaurant and pulled up to a table overlooking the Caribe. Wow what a view. Looking around we see some familiar faces. I say Dos Dos Equis, por favor. Hola Rubin! The XX's arrive without delay. I am drinking that very cold Cerveza and realize that that isn't Rubin at all, it is Wilberth. Oh my goodness what a stupid way to start an 8 night stay. So up i get and go over to Wilberth and tell him, Lo siento mucho amigo! Tu nombre es no Rubin. Buenos tardes Senor Wilberth. He smiles and says como esta? bien bien gracias. Una mas Dos Equis por favor.

We are wondering where Peggy and Gary are so i decide we better ask about them. Well to our amazement this is what we were told in broken English with a few words of Spanish and Mayan thrown in. Gary is in Texas! Peggy is in the Hospital in Playa del Carmen. She rolled her car on the highway. Geez, this is one "he double toothpick" of a way to start a vacation. Can you tell me when you expect Gary back? Yes maybe around 9pm. Boy, now what to do. Can we check in to our room? No, you will have to wait for Gary. Now I'm starting to freak just a bit. Lynn, what should we do? Bill, just slow down and have something to eat. Relax boy and see what will happen.

Well the above pictured Langosta al mojo de ajo arrives and that takes my mind off the horrible start at Casa Cenote. We are just finishing up the lobster and one of the guys comes over and gives me the key to Casitas Number 2 (the Medicine God room) you see all the Casitas have a very Large Stone Carving by Juan Hemenez embedded in the wall for a headboard to the bed. They also have the matching stone carving in the bath but it matches the room next door. By the way the Langosta is wonderful. I am still worried sick for poor Peggy with Gary gone to Texas so she has no one looking out for her. Geez, what to do now.
Look at those puppies down there Bill, they are in dog heaven.

I look up and here comes Gary followed by Peggy. She doesn't look like she's been in a car wreck. Hey Peggy are you all right? Well yes I am, why do you ask?
The guys said you were in a car wreck and in the hospital in Playa not expected to live. My goodness, Gary has been in the states visiting his 10 year old daughter that was hit by a car on her bike. She had been in a coma. They had run all the tests and she was given a clean bill of health. I have been to Cancun to pick up Gary. Peggy says boy how things can get mixed up in the translation. Needless to say we are quite relieved to hear all of this.

Gary orders Margaritas for everyone. They are very tasty and wonderful. Peggy mentions that the guys are all looking at her with big Eyes. Maybe they think I am a Alux (ghostly creature)! I better go talk to them. When she returns she says that someone saw her car rolled over and all crashed up and that she was in the hospital dying. The other guys that are suppose to be here are out look for her seen Gary is gone. Shortly the guys return from Playa with quite a story. Someone saw the car just like Peggy's and even the same state tag rolled over and torn up really bad. The guys went to the hospital asked how she was and they said to ask her husband who was standing over there. That's not Gary! So Peggy is not dying. So that shows the devotion that Peggy and Garys workers have for them. Wonderful bunch of real people.

Mas Margaritas por favor. We talk 900 miles an hour in an attempt to get to know each other and Lynn  and I try to keep up with Peggy and Gary in the Margaritas world. We are very tipsy and decide to all go out to look at the Cenote as someone at the Lol-Ha had said it was tea colored the other day from all the rain. When we arrived it was crystal clear. Looked so inviting I just dove right in. Burr, it is very cold. Climb out and everyone is laughing at me. Back for another Margaritas. I realize that my glasses are gone. Peggy says not to worry we will find them in the morning.

Well they have some dinner and from here on I am a blank.

I stroll along the beach headed north to look for signs of Turtles nesting. To my dismay I come across a nest that has been robbed! Oh me, I was hoping to find it before anyone else so I could erase the tell tail signs and inform Peggy and Gary where it was. Well needless say some nest robber had beaten me to the punch. In this part of the world Turtle eggs have been used for a source of food since the beginning of time. There is a big push by organizations like Central Ecological Akumal to educate the children about the demise of the Turtles and their  becoming extinct. This is working quite well but old habits and tastes are hard to change. Please help the Turtle people any way you can.

I am walking back towards the room when I see Gary moving around in the Restaurant. So I walk on over to say good morning. Hi, Bill ! Would you like some coffee? Sounds wonderful to me. He pours us both a cup and fills the insulated carafe with coffee and carries it over to Lynn. When he return we just sit around and talk about everything. We have hit it off pretty good and enjoy the conversation. I ask where Peggy is, she's gone to pick up the guys. We have everyone working all day today as this is the day of the Fiesta. Normally we work two shifts. They are open from 8am until 9pm. Today will be a big day  and everyone will stay busy.

Hi Lynn, good morning sunshine. Really none of us are moving very fast after the Margaritas Devil sat on our shoulders last night. Peggy shows up with the guys ready to work. They start  their daily routine getting ready to serve the tourists that stop by on their way to or from the many attractions of  the area. Some are here just because Manatee Cenote is one of the few free cenotes left around. Peggy then tells us that she carried us to our room  last night and put Lynn to bed and her and I went for our luggage. Humm. Good start to a vacation I would say. This will not happen again that is for sure.

Bloody Mary anyone? Si si Senorita por favor. Yum that tastes good. We have just about any thing you want for breakfast. We choose the Eggs, Hot Cakes and Bacon. So good  with Maple syrup. Peggy orders a drink she calls a Chi-Chi. They say it is liquid French Toast. Me too. Sure does taste like french toast. Gary and Peggy have a busy day ahead of them so we go back to our room to shower and get ready for the first of our Fiesta guests as we have no idea when they will start arriving.
